Welcome to my virtual office

Welcome

I'm a journalist/editor/producer and—since 2015—digital managing editor of American Scientist magazine.

Since 2021, I've also been an instructor in Harvard's journalism program, a part of the Division of Continuing Education, where I teach classes and serve as a capstone director for students seeking their master's degree in journalism.

For the 2020-2021 academic year, I was away studying as a Fellow with the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.

Previously, I've worked on staff for AAAS/Science magazine and for the NPR network, including at St. Louis Public Radio. My freelance client list ranges from international magazines and television networks to regional newspapers to local public radio stations.

My educational background enables me to specialize in physical sciences and economics, but I've covered most sciences as well as health, policy, education, and business. In sum, I'll follow a good story wherever it leads.

Although I do not freelance in competition with my current employer, American Scientist, I usually can take on some projects.

So please have a look around my virtual office and be in touch if there's something I may do for you: RobertFrederick (at) NASW (dot) org.
